River Windrush, near Widford

Oil on Board, 10 x 14 inches.

I've reverted to type with this one, using my old method of painting trees, which is fast, but gives a very realistic look.Work in progress...

  1. Thanks for continuing to post your paintings - they are a real inspiration. I keep coming back to view them. I also prefer your old way of painting trees, and I agree with your comment in your youtube demo of painting water that trees are harder than water. I find creating trees with believable depth and shape a real challenge. Your trees are always so well rendered. Jane

    1. Thanks for commenting Jane, and pleased you find inspiration. it's the trick of painting the shapes in front of you, the darks and lights and changes in colour - rather than 'painting what your mind says a tree looks like', if that makes sense? remember a tree comes out towards you, not just left and right on a flat surface.
